New to CrossFit?

The first thing you might be asking yourself is what is CrossFit? Simply put, CF is constantly varied functional movements performance at high intensity. So what does that mean to you? This means that every movement and exercise we do at CrossFit Pledge Fitness will help make you a better version of yourself. You will be able to performance your daily tasks with more ease and have more energy. We use the CrossFit methodology to develop your General Physical Preparedness (GPP). Once we have developed a solid foundation, we then start focusing on individual goals and create a program specifically for you to help you reach those goals.

 

Fundamentals

All new members who do not have a minimum of 6 months of CrossFit experience must complete our 5-6 day fundamentals course. During each fundamentals class, you will work one-on-one with a coach whose sole purpose is to ensure that you learn how to properly execute each exercise. Each class will then end with a short workout, and, best of all, our fundamentals program is free for all members. Due to our large waiting list, we encourage anyone who is interested in starting CrossFit to schedule their first fundamentals class as soon as possible to avoid being put on our waiting list. We empower all our women from our local Downey Unified School District teachers, our Kaiser Permanente nurses, our Downey Police Officers, and our mothers. We understand that most women are scared when it comes to working out. Many women think that they will get bulky and muscular from lifting weights, but that is far from the truth. We believe everything derives from strength, and CrossFit Pledge Fitness is here to help you reach your strength goals. We accomplish this by implementing a program that focuses on olympic lifting, power lifting, and body building. The olympic lifts help develop dynamic power output while also developing athleticism. We then add power lifting exercises to work with heavier loads and add strength. Finally, we compliment both olympic lifting and powerlifting with bodybuilding exercises to strengthen a person’s weak muscle groups. Body building allows us to target a weak link and strengthen it without overworking and taxing the body. Additionally, we include an in-depth meal plan to help you reach your strength goals. The thoughtful programming we use at CrossFit Pledge Fitness has worked for hundreds of people, and we guarantee that it will work for you too. We are all unique individuals, and we understand that not everyone wants to be the next CrossFit Games champion and not everyone is looking to set a new world record. A large majority of the people we help are regular people who are looking for a way to improve their health. CrossFit Pledge Fitness helps countless Downey residents and those of neighboring cities by providing them with an in-depth meal plan to help them reach their specific goal. Additionally, we educate you on the importance of good quality foods. Our meal plans are easy to follow and simple to understand. After speaking with one of our coaches, you will leave with a full understanding of what foods to eat, when to eat certain foods and when not to, and finally you will learn which foods you need to avoid. We also provide you with additional work to do outside of the gym to ensure you reach your goal in a timely manner. First and foremost, we want to thank you for your selfless commitment to our community and our country. CrossFit Pledge Fitness knows first hand how important it is to be physically prepared for Murphy’s Law. We offer our first responders specific programs to prepare them for the unknown and additionally we design programs to strengthen their weaknesses. Plainly, we want our police officers and deputies to be able to fight off suspects, sprint to aid a fallen comrade or citizen, drag or carry them to safety, and provide aid without fatiguing. CrossFit Pledge Fitness knows that sport specificity matters. We understand that strength matters in combat sports, but conditioning matters more. There are very few feelings that are worse than being underneath your opponent while your gas thank is on empty and breathing becomes difficult. Simply put, pressure sucks! Our programs for our combat athletes focus on developing a strong core to allow you to do technical/tactical stand ups under load without gassing out. In addition, your grip and take down strength will sky rocket to the point that you will frustrate your opponents. Whether you are looking to improve your Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (bjj) game, increase your wrestling takedowns and defense, or improve your overall performance for your Mix Martial Arts career our CrossFit facility in Downey can help you reach your individual goals.

With our broad and in-depth personal understanding of military bootcamp and police academy training, CrossFit Pledge Fitness has the first hand experience to get you to graduation day. Whether your goal is join the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy, or earn the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor and become a United States Marine, our coaches and staff will do everything in their power to help you reach your goal. And if your goal is to become a Deputy Sheriff, Corrections Officer, Police Officer, or a Firefighter, CrossFit Pledge Fitness will prepare you physically and mentally, so you can focus the little time you have during the academy on academics.
